Danny's First Day of School
Danny is a red-haired boy with a big job ahead of him: tomorrow will be his first day of school. When he sees the huge school building and the tall tree in the yard, he worries that everything will feel too big for him. In his new classroom, Danny notices that other children look shy too, and at recess he makes a simple plan to talk to one girl and walk with her to the tree. Step by step, the big school stops feeling quite so huge. By the end of the day, Danny has done something hard, and he is already looking forward to one more name tomorrow.
